The prophet's ministry was in the early years of the Babylonian exile, between 593/592 - 571/570 B.C.. Ezekiel in Babylon envisaged the fall and restoration of Israel. His older contemporary, Jeremiah, in Jerusalem, actually beheld the dying gasps of the Kingdom of Judah.
